Old Time Hockey (aka Puttin on The Foil)

Just got back from the 2008 UP pond hockey invitational in St Ignace, and had a great time.
This was the first outside hockey tournament that I have ever played in, and it took a game for us to get the hang of it. The tourney is 4 on 4, with no goalies. Goals are 6' wide and 6" tall, so keeping the puck on the ice is vital. The team went 0 and 3, but we had a lot of fun. I don't know how, but we got placed in the GOLD DIVISION.

Here was the guidelines for the "GOLD DIVISION"

Gold Level - Highest Level. This player is highly skilled. Has played Junior A, College or is a former Pro Hockey player.

Well... I have only played recreational hockey.. We had two players with high school experience - and they were our experienced players. No excuses... It was fun, and we were able to hold our own (other than a game one 27-11 killing).

The games took place on Lake Huron, and the weather was about as good as it could get.

St. Ignace was awesome in regards to being acceptable to a buncha hockey goons invading the town! Here is a crummy picture I took of some games in action:

The Highlight of the whole weekend was meeting the Hanson Brothers from SLAPSHOT! Buncha cool guys who crack me up...Notice the swag "Labatt Blue Hockey Helmet Stocking Caps" we scored... Nothing could be classier..

Favorite SLAPSHOT Scene

Reggie Dunlop: Goddamn lard-ass Barkley Donaldson, I'm tellin' you he jumped us!
Steve Hanson: [nodding head] Mm huh.
Reggie Dunlop: Gloves off, stick down, no warning, he challenged the Chiefs!
Steve Hanson: Called us names!
Reggie Dunlop: Called us names! But Dave was there.
Steve Hanson: Dave's a killer!
Johnny Upton: Dave's a mess.
Reggie Dunlop: But Dave's out. Who's gonna take his place?
Ned Braden: Is the answer Jesus?
Reggie Dunlop: [looks at the Hanson brothers] Ok guys. Show us what you got.

X-Country Skiing at Ogemaw Hills

Here is a pic from my cross country skiing trip to West Branch Saturday. The day was perfect temperature wise. I was hoping to get some additional pictures, but my camera took a big "duece" on me. I need to pick up a new camera for my trips.
